Abstract:

Classical Reed-Solomon (RS) codes are widely used in classical memories and communication due to their burst error correction capability. Classical RS codes are efficient codes that saturate the classical Singleton bound. Using the CSS framework, the construction of quantum codes from dual-containing classical Reed-Solomon codes over GF(2^m) and GF(p^m) have been proposed before. Quantum codes can be constructed from classical Reed-Solomon codes that do not satisfy the dual-containing criteria by using the entanglement-assisted (EA) stabilizer framework. In this talk, I will discuss a systematic theory for the construction of efficient EA RS codes over qudits of dimension p^m from two classical RS codes over GF(p^m). The code construction involves obtaining an explicit form of the stabilizers for the code from the parity check matrix of the classical RS codes. I will discuss various properties of the code, along with providing their encoding and error correction circuit architectures with a circuit complexity of O(n^2), useful for practical implementations, where n=p^m-1. Based on the proposed EA RS code, I will also provide a construction of a burst error correcting code for qudits of dimension p.
