Abstract:
Change of career path from academics to industry to start up and back to industry. Very few dare to tread such a career graph. I have been one of those lucky few who have had the opportunity to take up this journey. In this talk I will discuss the pros and cons that I have faced in these diverse careers and also present some highlights of my doctoral research and also my work in Jio. Mainly it should be an open Q&A forum where based on my experience I can give guidance and pointers to proceed in domain of your choice
Bio:
Soma Pandey graduated from NIT Bhopal in CSE. She has more than 20 years of rich industrial and academic experience. She has been mainly working in area of embedded systems and real time systems. Presently she is working as GM at Jio Platforms Limited on Engineering the IoT sensors. She is member IEEE for more than 13 years and a Senior member since 2016. She has served as volunteer for IEEE in various capacity in WiE AG Execom and ComSoc Execom for past years. Presently she is member of IEEE Bangalore Section Executive committee and is Co Chair for IEEE Educational Activities Board. She was given IEEE ComSoc Women in Engineering Champion Award and IEEE Women in Engineering Outstanding Volunteer GOLD award by IEEE WiE AG. She has many IEEE conference and journal publications and has been reviewer for many IEEE international conferences and journals. Her doctoral research is in Wireless Mesh Networks. Her core area of interests are Wireless LAN and PAN networks, IoT and sensor engineering and IoT platforms and LTE networks.
