Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is the premier Institute in India for Science and Technology Education and Research. Most of the student members of IEEE-IISc Student Branch are Masters or Ph.D students who are doing research in latest and emerging areas of science and engineering.

IEEE IISC SB excellence by networking, We have inducted more than 21 organizations like IEEE CIS society, IEEE Photonics society, IEEE SP society, WISE AG, IEEE PES etc.

IEEE-IISc student branch is recognized as one of the best student branches by IEEE, under IEEE- University Partnership Program (IEEE-UPP), along with 17 other colleges in the world. Our motto is to conduct innovative IEEE programs emphasizing on technical excellence, and as per the needs of our student members.

The branch is motivated with the goal of enriching the technical activities, within the institute and around, through workshops, talks, and contests. The student branch is well associated with IEEE Bangalore Section and welcomes participation and healthy interaction both at technical and social levels.

  1. IEEE-IISC-UPP: The program aims to build closer relationships with the student branches, as well as with the librarians, at top engineering schools. The branch chairs come together to share their ideas for running thriving student branches and to learn about the benefits of IEEE membership.

  2. IISc Open Day: All the Departments showcase their activities to the student community and the general public. Open Day will feature popular lectures, experimental demos, poster presentations, quiz contests, scientific competitions, and exhibitions that will be showcased in the various departments and centers. A “Kids-Zone” will offer a special attraction for younger students, with a number of science and technology demos on display. IEEE IISc Student branch participates actively in these activities.

  3. IEEE IISc Student Branch Outreach Program:

  4. Japan Habba: IEEE-IISc student branch technically supports Japan Habba. The main purpose is to improve cooperation between Indian and Japanese companies, academic groups, students, etc. The program consists of tech talks, company presentations, life and higher education in Japan, panel discussions on collaborations, job fairs, and more. Japan Habba is also an Indian-Japanese cultural exchange event held annually in Bangalore, bringing in thousands of enthusiastic audience members.

  5. HKN Eta Kappa Nu: IEEE Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Eta Kappa Nu Mu Xi was established in 2017. IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) is the honor society of IEEE, promoting excellence in the profession and in education with ideals of Scholarship, Character, and Attitude. The goal of the HKN chapter is to be the catalyst for the development of “The Complete Technical Professional.” It is recognized globally as the honor society representing the highest values of professions in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

  6. IEEE IISc Women in Science and Engineering Affinity Group (WISE AG): IEEE IISC WISE AG was inaugurated in 2020. The WISE team conducts many technical activities throughout the year by inviting distinguished women experts to share their technical knowledge, expertise, and life experiences that inspire young minds. On Open Day, they conduct the Dr. Rajeshwari Chatterjee memorial inspiring talk series, quizzes, and interactive sessions. The team also shares their research experience at IISc and the why, what, and how of their areas of research.

  7. DLP (Distinguished Lecture Program): The Distinguished Lecture Program provides an opportunity to invite and host an experienced lecturer, either in-person or virtually (webinar format), to present a topic within their area of expertise. The program offers a list of renowned and exceptional lecturers who possess specialist knowledge within their field. These lecturers are also long-time volunteers of the Industry Applications Society and play a pivotal role in bringing experienced researchers and technical experts from various IEEE regions directly to chapters.

  8. GATE to EECS Travel Program: IEEE-IISc student branch volunteers to participate in traveling to Alma Mater and other institutes as an outreach effort to attract the best students to IISc, motivate students to write GATE, and encourage them to apply to IISc’s degree programs. Some of the institutions visited include:

  9. New students who joined the M.Tech (ECE), M.Tech (Signal Processing), M.Tech (AI), M.Tech (Research), and Ph.D. programs in the department are encouraged to join IEEE during their orientation program by the Department Chair.
