Dr. Gaurab Banerjee received his B.Tech. (Hons., ECE) degree from IIT Kharagpur, India, in 1997, his M.S.E.E. degree from Auburn University,  USA, in 1999, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering  from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, in 2006. He has held positions at Intel Corporation (1999-2001), Intel Labs (2001–2007), and Qualcomm Inc. (2007-2010), where he worked on the design and built-in-self-test of analog, mixed signal and RF integrated circuits, contributing to multiple products with 100+ million dollars of revenue impact, and 20+ industrial chips. He has extensive experience in RF and mm-Wave communication and radar system development and in working with in-house fabs and external foundries for semiconductor IP development and design technology co-optimization. He also led the design of an industry-first built-in-self-test (BIST) subsystem in an RFIC product at Qualcomm.

Since 2010, he has been with the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India, where he is currently a full Professor. Dr. Banerjee has advised 30+ master’s and Ph.D. students, with 15+ research test chips. He has developed and transferred key Analog and RF technologies (RF amplifiers, radar-on-chip) to established companies and startups and raised USD 2M+ in research funding as principal or co-investigator. Dr. Banerjee has 50+ publications in major journals and conferences, and 15 patents (granted or pending).

He has also founded AAGYAVISION Pvt. Ltd., an imaging and sensing company based on a radar-on-chip technology developed under his leadership at IISc. His research interests include the design and test of analog and RFICs and systems for communication and sensing.

Dr. Banerjee is a National Talent Search Scholar of India.  He has also received the Visveswaraya Faculty Fellowship (2015), the Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship (2020), and the Qualcomm Faculty Award (2021). Dr. Banerjee was an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS: PART-I, from 2008 to 2010. He has served as a reviewer for many IEEE journals and conferences.
