Abstract:
Quantum information science, as is increasingly publicly recognized, brings new science and technological possibilities in areas such as information processing, cryptography, ranging, metrology, etc. Here we will review the basic quantum ideas that enable this quantum advantage, highlighting recent advances in quantum technology.
Bio:
Dr R. Srikanth is Associate Professor in the Theoretical Sciences Department of Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research, Bengaluru, who obtained his PhD from the Astrophysics Dept., IISc, Bengaluru. He has over 90 publications in reputed, international peer-reviewed journals, and serves as a reviewer for several journals. He is on the editorial board of the international journal Quanta. His main areas of research interest are:
- Foundations of quantum mechanics
- Quantum information theory
- Quantum cryptography
- Solar physics: supergranulation
He is the founding coordinator of the Center for Foundational Study within PPISR, which aims to explore ways to bridge science and philosophy in the context of exploring fundamental scientific issues.
