Biography:
Born in Kumbakonam, India, Dr. Balachandran pursued his higher education in physics and earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Specializing in acoustics, his career as a physicist took him and his family to several international academic centers, including London, Wellington, Calgary, and New York. Beyond his scientific contributions, he was a true renaissance man with wide-ranging intellectual interests and a deep personal passion for Carnatic music, which remained a defining part of his life alongside his academic and research pursuits.
