Biography:
Dr. Dinesh K. Anvekar is a distinguished academic and industry professional with over 16 years of research and development experience at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) between 1982 and 1998. He currently serves as a Senior Professor at the RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT), Bengaluru. Over the course of his career, he has held several notable positions, including Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Lab2Market (an IISc startup), Director of Research and Development at Vijaya Vittala Institute of Technology (VVIT), and Director of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Computer Science at CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT).
Dr. Anvekar excelled academically from an early age. He secured the first rank and a state award in 1979 for achieving the highest marks in Electronics among all engineering universities in Karnataka. He holds a B.E. in Electronics from Bangalore University, an M.E. in Automation from IISc, and a Ph.D. in Microelectronics from IISc, for which he received the Best Thesis Award. Dr. Anvekar has extensive industry experience as well. At Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab, he led Innovation Initiatives and was trained and certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt by both Honeywell and the American Society for Quality (ASQ). During his tenure, he mentored and guided 300 Six Sigma Green Belt projects. His expertise in innovation spans methodologies such as the Russian Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ). He has made substantial contributions to intellectual property, with 15 U.S. patents issued for work at IBM Solutions Research Center, AT&T Bell Labs, Lotus Interworks, and Nokia Research Center, Finland. Remarkably, he filed 100 patents in India within a period of just 10 months (September 2014 – June 2015). In academia, Dr. Anvekar has over 18 years of teaching experience at IISc and other institutions. He has authored a book, published more than 55 technical papers, and supervised over 40 undergraduate and graduate engineering projects and research students.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Anvekar is deeply interested in spirituality and personal development. He has memorized all 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita, as well as the Dattatreya, Vishnu, and Lalitha Sahasranamas. An avid trekker, he has completed challenging routes, including a 13-kilometer uphill ascent on Kumaragiri Hill at Subrahmanya near Mangalore. He has practiced meditation for over 25 years and has received Kriya Yoga Deeksha from the Swami order of Paramahamsa Yogananda.
