Biography
Dr. Prabhakar S. Naidu is a distinguished academician and researcher in the field of electrical engineering, known for his long and impactful career at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He has made significant contributions to signal processing, geophysical analysis, and related areas.

Dr. Naidu completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degrees at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 1962. He later earned his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Canada, in 1965.
After returning to India, Dr. Naidu joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where he served in the following positions:
• Assistant Professor (1971–1976)
• Associate Professor (1977–1982)
• Professor (1983–2002)

Dr. Naidu authored numerous research papers on topics such as object shape parameters, signal processing algorithms, geophysical modeling, and tomographic imaging. His publications have been widely cited, reflecting his influence in the scientific community. Dr. Naidu’s dedication to teaching, mentorship, and research excellence has left a lasting impact on electrical engineering education and research in India. His work continues to inspire students, researchers, and professionals in the field.

Born on August 23, 1937, in Khundu, India, Dr. Naidu is the son of Y. Satyanarayan, a veterinary surgeon, and Shantamma Naidu. He married Madhumati Rokkan on July 29, 1967, and they have three children: Srikant, Sridhar, and Srinath.
