Biography
Dr. Balaji Sundar Rajan is a prominent researcher and academic in the areas of wireless
communications and information theory. He completed his B.Sc. in Mathematics from
Madras University, followed by a B.Tech. in Electronics from the Madras Institute of Technology.
He later pursued his M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.
Academic Career
Dr. Rajan began his academic career as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical
Engineering at IIT Delhi, where he served from 1990 to 1997.
In 1998, he joined the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE)
at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where he served as a Senior Professor
until his retirement in 2023.
After retirement, he continues to contribute to teaching, research, and mentoring as
an Honorary Professor at IISc.
