Biography
Dr. T. S. Vedavathy is an esteemed academic associated with the Department of Electrical
Communication Engineering (ECE) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Her journey at IISc
began in 1968 when she joined as a student under the mentorship of Dr. Rajeshwari Chatterjee,
the first woman engineer of Karnataka and a pioneer in microwave engineering.
Over the years, Dr. Vedavathy progressed from student to colleague, contributing to teaching and
research within the department. Although detailed documentation of her research contributions is
limited, her close association with Dr. Chatterjee’s laboratory indicates involvement in microwave
devices, antenna engineering, and related electromagnetic technologies.
Beyond her technical contributions, Dr. Vedavathy has played an important role in mentoring
students and continuing the legacy of her mentor. Her experience as both a student and faculty
member has made her an integral part of the growth and development of the ECE department at IISc.
