Biography:
Dr. T. S. Vedavathy is an esteemed academic associated with the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

Educational Background:
She completed her B.Sc. from Mysore University in 1956 and went on to earn her M.Sc. in Physics from Mysore University in 1965.

Career:
Early in her career, she served as a Lecturer at MES College, Bangalore, during 1965–1966. She then joined the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE) as a Research Student from 1966 to 1967, followed by her role as a Senior Scientific Assistant from 1967 to 1971. On 8th September 1971, she became a Senior Research Fellow in ECE and subsequently completed her Ph.D. in 1973 under the guidance of Dr. Rajeshwari Chatterjee, specializing in dielectric-coated metal cone aerials. In 1974, she was appointed as a Scientific Officer in ECE, a position she held until 1982.She transitioned to an academic role as a Lecturer in ECE from 1982 and served in this capacity until 1987. She was then promoted to Assistant Professor (1987–1993), followed by Associate Professor from 1993 until June 2001. She briefly served as Professor from 23rd June 2001 to 30th November 2001, marking the culmination of her distinguished academic career.

Over the years, Dr. Vedavathy progressed from student to a faculty, contributing to teaching and research within the department. Although detailed documentation of her research contributions is limited, her close association with Dr. Chatterjee’s laboratory indicates involvement in microwave devices, antenna engineering, and related electromagnetic technologies.Beyond her technical contributions, Dr. Vedavathy has played an important role in mentoring students and continuing the legacy of her mentor. Her experience as both a student and faculty member has made her an integral part of the growth and development of the ECE department at IISc.
