Biography:
Professor Vinod Sharma is a distinguished academic in the field of Electrical and Communication Engineering (ECE). He has made significant contributions to communication networks, wireless mobile networks, queuing theory, estimation theory, and information theory.

Vinod Sharma worked at Northeastern University, Boston and University of California in Los Angeles before joining Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 1988. In IISc, he has been the Chair of ECE dept, TATACHEM chair professor and Dean of Engineering faculty and has superannuated in July 2022. Currently, he is a Prof in Electrical Engineering department at Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, Greater Noida.

Vinod was convenor of DRDO-IISc program on Advanced research in Mathematical Engineering from 2001 to 2011. This was a major program supporting 50 projects by different faculty in IISc. He was also principal investigator of a program that demonstrated a nation-wise quality of service architecture on ERNET.

• 1984: Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
