The department of Electrical Communication Engineering offers academic programmes leading to Masters and PhD degrees. The scope of the programmes includes the following areas:
- Communication & Networking
- Signal Processing
- Microwaves and RF
- Microelectronics and VLSI
- Photonics
- Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
The department offers two research programmes:
and four course-based M.Tech programmes:
- M.Tech (Artifical Intelligence) - jointly with all departments of EECS Division
- M.Tech (Electronics & Communication Engineering) Modified in 2021 from Communication & Networks
- M.Tech (Microelectronics & VLSI) - jointly with Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE)
- M.Tech (Signal Processing) - jointly with Department of Electrical Engineering (EE)
The department also participates in Interdisciplinary Ph.D programmes with the Centre for Bio Systems Science and Engineering (BSSE), Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) and the Mathematics Department through the IISc Mathematics Initiative (IMI).
