Joint Investigator of Intel funded projects on Quality of Service in IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs, 2003-2006.

Joint Investigator of Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd. (HFCL) funded projects in the areas of “Voice over IP; Internet Bandwidth Management; Internet Traffic Engineering;” 2000-2004. 

Principal investigator of Nortel Networks funded research projects in the areas: “Engineering Models for Quality of Service in a Differentiated Services Internet; Measurement Based Connection Admission Control in Packet Networks; Performance of Rate Adaptive TCP; Performance of TCP over the ABR Service in an ATM Network; Algorithms for Explicit Rate Control of ABR Sessions in ATM Networks;” 1996-2001.

Past Coordinator of the Ministry of Information Technology (MIT) funded ERNET (Education and Research NETwork) project (June 1989 – present). The project group at IISc has equipment worth Rs. 100 lakhs (US $200,000), receives annual grants averaging to about Rs. 20 lakhs (US $40,000), and employs 8 full-time project engineers. The goal of this project is to establish and operate a nationwide Internet for the Indian academic and research community.
