INDUSTRIAL ADVISORY BOARDDEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
The purpose of the Industrial Advisory Board is to support the vision of the department with its educational and research programs by sharing its expertise and strategic thinking, and by participation in meetings with the department chair and faculty committees. The Board will be composed of leaders from the industry who have a commitment to the mission and goals of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the Department.
- The Board will propose suggestions to make timely changes in our curriculum to ensure that it remains current, instills the fundamentals in the students to help them flourish in their careers, and meets industry expectations.
- Board will meet periodically with faculty members of the department to brainstorm on ways to enhance the impact of our research and course programs
- The Board will provide suggestions on new avenues for industry-academic relations, and facilitate better industry outreach for the research outcomes of the department.
- The Board Members will work closely with the Department to build and nurture new programs for societal good.
Dr Aloknath De
Preetam joined TI as a design engineer after graduating from IISc and rose to become an expert power system architect and chief technologist. His expertise and unique capability to marry the concepts from signal chain with power while combining his creative problem solving skills and expertise in systems/architecture, IC design & process development have resulted in breakthrough products over years. He is well-known in the Industry for his vast experience ranging AFEs for Cable, WLAN and other systems to high power converters and server power management. His innovations have resulted in 35 granted patents at USPTO, 16 patents in filing. Preetam takes special interest in mentoring and has nurtured top talent, who are now leading design & systems teams across TI. He is also very active in university program leading the TI-IISc partnership and teaches bachelors and masters students regularly and has been guide to multiple students. He has multiple conference and journal papers and is a senior member IEEE.

Dr Venkat Padmanabhan
Laxmi Mukund is a Principle Engineer at Cisco with a master’s in computer science and networking and about 20 years of industry experience. She has worked on various routing, switching and security products across Enterprise, Service Provider and Data center. Her main contributions have been in the architecture, design and development of features in the areas of core routing and switching, prefix convergence, Netflow, access control, quality of service, secure policy access and LISP (Locator Identity Separation Protocol). She is currently working on security with privacy as an important component. Understanding customer key requirements and translating them into usable features, reviewing network topology designs and troubleshooting complex customer network topologies has been part of her journey through out. She has a Cisco pioneer award and patents in the area of networking.
Dr Vijay Chandru
Kumar N Sivarajan
Kumar is the Chief Technology Officer at Tejas Networks. He has several years of experience in the field of electrical communication engineering. He is a former associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
Kumar holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the California Institute of Technology
