On 14th June, we will have a social program for the conference participants after all the technical sessions. There will be a sarod recital at the Satish Dhawan auditorium, and this will be followed by the conference dinner.
Sarod recital by Debanjan Bhattacharjee
The Concert will be a Sarod recital with Tabla on accompaniment. The Sarod is a traditional Indian Classical Music stringed instrument while the Tabla is a popular Indian percussion drum. The Sarod in accompaniment with the Tabla, shall present traditional Indian Classical Monsoon Ragas or Seasonal Melody Scales. This shall be followed by a medley of different traditional yet popular Indian folk songs, selected from different corners of India.
Debanjan Bhattacharjee is an Indian Classical Sarod artiste from Kolkata. He is the disciple of Ustad Aashish Khan, Late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan & Vidushi Ameena Perera of Maihar Senia Gharana. He has also participated in various workshops conducted by the legendary Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khansahab. Debanjan has won the coveted President’s Gold Medal Award in 2008. At this young age, Debanjan has International performances in over 14 Countries & has also performed solo nationally in over 39 Indian Cities. He is a nominated artiste for the prestigious Global Indian Music Academy Awards --- GIMA 2012 for the Best Classical Album alongside great legends like Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ust. Shujaat Khan, Pt. Ronu Majumdar. He is also an empanelled artiste with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India. Debanjan has also performed abroad in USA, Germany, Mexico, Canada, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Singapore, Bangladesh. Debanjan is a graded artiste of All India Radio & Doordarshan. In the academic front, Debanjan is a post-graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpore, West Bengal.
